Day 276 - Hello Cambria!

The counter tops arrived yesterday, and they look great!  The installers were from Sioux Falls, SD.  They came with a crew of 4 guys and had everything installed by 4:30pm.  Nice work gentlemen.  Nice work.

Siding Update

Siding installation has been a slow process (a very common theme on this construction project!), but it is coming along nicely.  They are currently ~80%  finished.  They have do side the 3 season porch & finish up some trim.  The gray siding looks great with the stone.

Masonry

The stone is finished around the garage except for the sill stone.  It looks really good.  They are starting on the chimney next.  They last thing to finish will be the pillars on the front of the porch.

Painting

Fresh Coat Paint has ~80% of the painting done.  They are currently working on the basement.  They will finish that tomorrow.  After that, they will only have the walls of the main stairwell to paint.  They are going to wait to paint that area however until Tom has the staircase installed.  After everything else is done, they will come back and touch things up before we move in.

Carpentry & Stuff

Tom & Al are working on the stairs this week.  Pretty much everything else in the house is done.  After the stairs are finished, they will head outside & start working on the front porch & back deck.

Day 258 - Happy Easter

Saw this guy flying above the house the other day.  Bonus points if anyone can tell me what species of bird it is!

Fresh Coat Painters in the Hizzous!

Our house is starting to get colorful!  Fresh Coat Paint has been at the house for ~2 weeks now.  Mike, the main painter, has been great to work with!  He has the upstairs trim, ceilings & wood ceiling beams completely finished.  He and coworkers are currently working on the trim/bead board/stair parts for the main floor and starting to put down the color upstairs!!!  So far the master bathroom, master bedroom, laundry room, Betsy’s room, and the boys rooms are finished.  The master bedroom was finished, but there was a slight issue with the wall texture, so Justice Drywall had to come out yesterday and re-sand some of the walls to even things out.

Siding

Dave Kampsen & Kelly Kerfeld have been making steady progress on the siding.  The entire front of the house is finished except for the dormer above the garage.

Flooring

Scott Tullis came out yesterday and began laying down some flooring.  Scott was on-call for the ambulance at the same time.  Fortunately no ambulance calls until later that night!  He enlisted some help to pound down the rubber mat in the exercise room.

I little sweeping & we're good to go!

Masonry

The stone on the back of the house is really starting to move along.  They have the entire walkout finished & should be starting on the exterior chimney sometime next week.  Yesterday they were prepping the scratch coat on the west side of the house.

Tile is Finished

Except for the kitchen/pantry backsplash (which won't get done until after the counter tops get installed on May 6th & 7th) all of the tile work is finished!  We ran into several problems with getting the correct tile from ProSource to finish the kids' bathroom.  First they send an extra 2 boxes of regular tile instead of bullnosed tile, so we had them courier up a the bullnose tile.  Unfortunately, they send the wrong color tile!  Oops!  Finally, after a week delay, Dave got the tile and was able to finish laying the bathroom tile.  I made an emergency trip to Home Depot on Friday night after work to pick up some grout (needed sanded grout instead of unsanded), and Dave finished grouting things on Saturday morning.  Thanks for all the hard work Dave!  Dave will be back around May 19th to finish off the kitchen backsplash.
